College Style Post: sorority semi-formal

I bet in this picture you can’t even tell that I’ve been sick lately, and honestly not sleeping well. Well it’s true! This past weekend I attended my last semi-formal for my sorority and it was bittersweet to say the least. I had so much fun dancing the night away with my friends I will cherish times like this always. Today on LMS I’m going to be sharing my tips on how I get ready for an event in one week or less! I’ll be sharing my tips on how to look your best and some secrets I used to make me look like a normal healthy human being when in actuality I felt like I was fighting the plague in this pic! I actually did this in less than a week as you’ll see but some steps should be started earlier if possible.

Day One: Monday

· Whiten teeth

· Acne treatment

· Drink water

· Go to bed early

For my skin and teeth this is something I do almost every night. I have a set acne regimen I use because I have acne prone and oily skin so if I don’t take care of it I will break out. And for my teeth I gradually whiten them by brushing with baking soda every day and night. To get faster results use a mix of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda mixed together, but I do not recommend that every night.

Day Two: Tuesday

· Whiten teeth

· Acne Treatment

· Keep drinking water!

· Get some rest

· Moisturize skin before bed

I notice when I consistently moisturize my skin before bed that It starts to eventually glow. If you are of a paler complexion I recommend getting your spray tan this day so you are not orange by the time the event rolls around.

Day Three: Wednesday

· Whiten teeth

· Acne Treatment

· Keep drinking water!

· Get some rest

· Decide on hair, makeup, and outfit (if not one already)

· Deep condition hair/ salon trip (if needed)

I personally am the type of person who likes to have a game plan. It makes me feel better and my getting ready process goes along a lot more smoothly when I plan out the look I am going for AHEAD of time. Don’t wait until the last minute! As for hair you want it in your best state possible, so I take this day to apply oils and deep conditioning masks. This way I will have time to make sure my hair doesn’t get greasy from all the lovin’ it gets.

Day Four: Thursday

· Whiten teeth

· Acne treatment

· Drink water

· Go to bed early

· Shave legs

· Eyebrows

· Get nails done (Mani/Pedi)

I like to save these things for the day before because you want them to look fresh, but not scramble at the last minute to do them. I always shave the day before so everything is fresh and smooth. Is it just me or does your skin glow after you shave? Mine does! Also, I grow hair like a mad man so I always shave everything the day before because by the time Friday rolls around, I’m a werewolf again! I arch my own eyebrows (I always do) to make filling them in easier. You can’t have crazy eyebrows in pictures, they frame the face! Also, for this event I did my own nails and toes to save money but if it was something more formal I would go to the nail salon and get pampered.

Friday: SEMI FORMAL!

For this day, something I did and always like to do whenever I am going to an event is to take my time getting ready. When I got up that morning, I put together a get ready playlist (something I recommend every girl do and keep updated) to enjoy while getting ready. I allowed myself hours before to get ready so I can really appreciate getting dolled up without rushing. Having a long nice hot shower that I was able to enjoy and not worry about shaving or anything was nice. I know technically this was what I did in less than a week, but the longer you do this the better! I hope you use this next time you have an important event coming up and wanna look like a million bucks!
